Canal Ring

Hello Canal Ring

The trio of seventeenth-century canals that make up the Canal Ring in Amsterdam always springs to mind when you think about Amsterdam. The bridges, the townhouses, the reflection of both shimmering in the water – the Herengracht, Keizersgracht, and Prinsengracht that wrap themselves around Amsterdam City Center are beautiful and gloriously Dutch. But there is substance to match the style of the Canal Ring, too. You’ll find great museums and art galleries – including the Van Loon Museum, which lets you see what the interior of a townhouse would have looked like in the eighteenth-century, and the moving Anne Frank House – as well as plenty of cafes and bars. Call in at the bustling 9 Straatjes (9 Streets) for some high-end shopping or to sip on a beer and watch the locals run their errands.
